Hello and welcome to Trailside Accommodations! We’re Ruth and Adam, your hosts and fellow lovers of Cape Breton’s breathtaking beauty.
Our connection to Cape Breton runs deep. After years of spending every vacation exploring the Cabot Trail and soaking in the rugged charm of the North Shore, we made a life-changing decision in 2021. We packed up our family in Halifax and planted our roots in Wreck Cove, drawn by the promise of a slower pace and the magic of four seasons spent outdoors.
With backgrounds in trail building and environmental education, we’ve always believed in the power of nature to bring people together. For us, moving here wasn’t just about a change of scenery—it was about creating a life immersed in Cape Breton’s natural beauty and sharing it with others.
At Trailside, we’re thrilled to share this little slice of paradise with you. Whether it’s a cozy evening in one of our cottages, a stroll along our private groomed trails, or simply taking in the stunning views of the mountains, ocean, and Barrachois lake, we want your time here to be unforgettable.
As parents, we understand how precious family time is, and we’ve created an experience that welcomes adventurers of all ages. From leisurely hikes and snowshoeing to exploring the coastline or chasing thrills on Ski Cape Smokey, there’s something here for everyone to enjoy.

Traveling Nova Scotia for a week — this was our favorite stay. The cabin was perfect and very clean, the area beautiful, and the price was right. We were able to hike around and walk to the beach–all from our cabin. We decided we should have stayed longer here.
Contact-Less Check In
Check in is at 3pm. Prior to your check in, we will have your cottage prepared for you and open with your key inside.
Parking for one car is located directly in front of your cottage. If you require more parking, please let us know and we’ll help you out.
Upon arrival, we highly recommend settling in and visiting the beach across the road. If you need a hand planning your adventure, drop us a note or a call.
Cancellation
We reserve the right to charge for cancellations made less than 30 days prior to the date of your stay. Your reservation will be billed to the credit card supplied.
Pet Policy
We are a pet friendly business. An additional $20 will be charged to your reservation for pets. We do have dogs of our own, and we ask that all dogs be kept on leash here during your stay without exception.
Smoking Policy
Smoking is not permitted in the cottages. A $75 deep cleaning fee will be applied if smoking in cottages. Dispose of your refuse in receptacles or garbage cans on site.
